Lenten Chowder & Stations

Continuing a Tradition

Parishioners at the former Star of the Sea Parish in Squantum had a long tradition of "Chowder and Stations" during the Fridays of Lent. When the parish closed in 2004, Star of the Sea parishioners along with Sacred Heart parishioners wished the tradition to continue, so they jointly worked on preserving and augmenting "Chowder and Stations." After 14 seasons at Sacred Heart, the program continues strong to this very day, now in a parish collaborative setting.

During Lent, dinner begins at 5:30pm in Sacred Heart Parish hall and the Stations of the Cross at 6:30pm in Sacred Heart Church. Dinner includes: clam chowder or corn chowder; baked/stovetop mac & cheese; bread and butter; a light dessert and beverages.

The donation is $5/person to help cover expenses.

Volunteers always are needed by assisting in cleanup, or by baking some simple desserts to share. You may call the rectory to volunteer, or send a note via our online contact form.
